What does Silver Salisbury do?

These are some of the things we do to help older people try new things, meet new people and make new friends:

  • We run the Silver Salisbury Autumn Festival: a two-week programme of special events for older people

  • We produce and distribute an Annual Directory of clubs and support groups where older people will get a warm welcome

  • We produce and distribute a Spring Newsletter with news and updates on local activities of interest to older people

  • We host tea parties and talks to bring people together and understand their priorities

  • We organise intergenerational events to bring older and younger people together

  • We like to challenge stereotypes and promote examples of positive ageing

  • We provide printed publicity material to reach people that aren't online

Silver Salisbury published a book

Titled From King to Queen, the book is a story created from the shared memories of older people living in and around Salisbury. It is even more timely now, as it is based during the time of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth and we are now living through the time of the next coronation.

The book is excellent for those wanting to spark some forgotten memories or as a social history tool for the younger generations.

The book costs £7.50 and all proceeds goes back into the charity. Orders may be placed by emailing silver.salisbury@outlook.com or it is available to purchase from us on Saturday 20th May at People in the Park or from the Salisbury Information Centre in Butcher Lane at the back of the Guildhall, from the History Bookshop at Fisherton Mill and the Rocket Bookshop near the clock on Fisherton Street

Silver Salisbury Consultation

Each September Silver Salisbury runs a programme of events to celebrate age & showcase activities for older people.

To help plan our programmes we wanted to know how older people were feeling, what they wanted to do & what would make them more likely to get involved.
